- What types of work do VIP Services clients do?
VIP Services clients are trained to perform a wide variety of jobs based on their skills, capabilities and, whenever possible, their dreams. Each client goes through an assessment process and participates in setting up a plan tailored to help them reach their goals. Job readiness is assessments provide guidelines as to skill development needs that may include timeliness, concentration and focus, manual dexterity and interpersonal skills.
Our center-based production and employment training program is one phase on the continuum of job training available to clients. Within the production center there are a variety of training opportunities to experience different types of work: light assembly, working on machines, packaging, etc. For some clients, the structure and ongoing staff supervision and support of the production center, is key to their ability to be successful.
For those clients with the desire and ability to work in the community, job shadowing and work experience opportunities are coupled with community volunteer options to expose them to a range of choices. Job coaching support is provided for those clients unable to initially work independently in the community. Community placements range from building maintenance, retail sales and service, construction and lawn maintenance.
We are continually looking to broaden and expand both training and job opportunities in the production center and in the community.
