The big blue buses are the same, but their destination has changed
with the long anticipated move of VIP Services to its newly renovated
Elkhorn residence. The new facility features many exciting and
innovative new program areas, including a much larger, more
efficient and ergonomically designed Production & Training Center, a
significantly enhanced and expanded Day Services complex, a well
designed Daily Living Skills Center available to and for clients of all
ability levels, space for a Computer Training area, and a Volunteer
Program Center. In addition, a loading dock has been added to the
building to separate the shipping and receiving function from the
Production & Training Center.
Fund raising continues in an effort to complete the Building a Bridge to
the Future Capital Campaign that has made the building possible. "It is a
source of great pride to us that the dollars needed to fund the renovation
process, those already committed and those remaining to be raised, will
have come entirely from private donors," according to Board President
Don Vandello. "To date we have raised over $1.7 million dollars of our
$2.3 million goal. As an organization we have been profoundly inspired
by the willingness of so many extraordinary local individuals, businesses
and service groups to open their hearts and their checkbooks to invest in
the future growth and
development of the adults with
disabilities we serve."
